HAGERSTOWN, MD - With the holidays, comes a helping hand. The Salvation Army helped families in need Friday, while giving others a second chance.

In partnership with the Maryland Correctional Training Center, six inmates got the chance to give back to the community. T

The inmates were over at the Longmeadow Shopping Center packing food boxes for needy families in Washington County. This experience also helps them readjust back into society.

"The facility administrator at HMD, MTCT pulled us up and told us, requested us to go work for them and we agreed it's something to give back to the community. After taking, taking, and taking so much," says Scott Gardner, maryland Correctional Training Center inmate.

The Salvation Army packed 1,050 boxes for more than 3,000 Washington County residents alone.
